10. Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, USA.

Nantucket.
Nantucket is an island 30 miles (48.3 km) south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in the United States. Together with the small islands of Tuckernuck and Muskeget, it constitutes the town of Nantucket, Massachusetts, and the coterminous Nantucket County, which are consolidated. Part of the town is designated the Nantucket CDP, or census designated place. The region of Surfside on Nantucket is the southernmost settlement in Massachusetts.

Canopache, meaning "place of peace", is the Wampanoag Native American name for the island.
Nantucket is a tourist destination and summer colony. The population of the island soars from about 10,000 to 50,000 during the summer months, due to tourists and summer residents. According to Forbes Magazine, in 2006, Nantucket had the highest median property value of any Massachusetts ZIP code.

The Nantucket Historic District, comprising all of Nantucket Island, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 13, 1966. In doing so the National Park Service paid particular note to the settlements of Nantucket and Siasconset. The island features one of the highest concentrations of pre-Civil War structures in the United States. It also has the oldest operating windmill in the United States (since 1746). It was the setting for the hit NBC sitcom Wings (NBC TV series).

Jethro Coffin House.
Jethro Coffin House, also known as the Oldest House, is a saltbox house built in 1686 and located on Sunset Hill Road in Nantucket, Massachusetts, is the oldest house on Nantucket in its original location and is the only surviving structure from the island's 17th Century English settlement. It is a U.S. National Historic Landmark. Because of the brick design on its chimney, it is also called the Horseshoe House.

Cemetery. Interesting warning.

Nantucket Windmill.
Nantucket Windmill was built in 1745-46 by Nathan Wilbur, a native sailor and carpenter. During his travels to Holland as a sailor he acquired his knowledge of windmill construction. Everyone who watched him build the odd configuration out of wood from wrecked ships thought he was wasting his time and energy on a foolish idea. He proved them wrong. Due to the octagonal shape of the mill there are no square joints. Each piece of lumber is dove-tailed. The octagonal framework is formed with eight one-foot square corner posts which has given this mill its longevity. Nails were expensive at that time; therefore wooden pegs were used to secure the mortise joints.

Nantucket Windmill stands fifty feet tall. Each of the four arms is thirty feet long and six feet wide. Canvas sails are usually placed on only two or the arms because the winds on Nantucket are strong. Sometimes the wind turns the arms without the sails. Just the lattice work on the arms is enough to catch the wind. These huge arms are supported by a wind shaft that turns an eleven-foot wooden wheel. The engineering of this wheel is inspiring. It is made out of six, sixty degree pieces. Sixty cogs protrude on the inside of the outer rim. These sixty wooden cogs mesh with 12 spindles turning the millstone five times as fast as the rotation of the propeller.

Beautiful view.

Can you spot the lighthouse?.

"Romantic cottages on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic, with Jacuzzis and two beautiful inns in Nantucket Town. Two award winning restaurants on site, offering al fresco dining facing the ocean".
Sound nice kan?. You guys want to know how much the price per/night?. $275.00 - $2000.00 USD.

The Beachside Bistro.
Nantucket's only restaurant overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The Beachside Bistro with its incomparable location for al fresco lunches and dinners and its elegant yet unpretentious food is like nothing else on Nantucket. It is at once both supremely relaxing - with the calming sounds of the surf - and yet totally pampering - with heaters and even blankets for nights when the ocean brings a refreshing coolness.

The Outdoor Bar with its specialty drinks and a view of the ocean is the place to meet for cocktails at the most scenic location on the island.

Church.

Sankaty Head Light.
The Sankaty Head Light is a lighthouse located on Nantucket island. It was built in 1850, was automated in 1965, and is still in operation.

In 1987, the Sankaty Lighthouse was listed in the National Register of Historic Places as the Sankaty Head Light, reference number 87002028.

According to the National Park Service, only the lower part of the tower is original. The lantern and stairs are reproductions.

The lighthouse was moved away from an eroding bluff (approximately 400 feet) in October 2007.

Funny face hehe.
